@30pics4jackiesdiamond they are beneficial to aquatic habitats as they eat vegetation, creating open water for waterfowl. They are also prey for foxes and eagles. However, they can reproduce rapidly and their burrowing can cause shoreline erosion. Have also been a problem for boaters…they chew on wiring, carpeting, etc. I have photographed them but I don’t think they are that cute. :)
