Huguenot

Took a walk to Spitalfields during lunch and wandered down Fournier Street. This, and a few other nearby streets somehow survived the Blitz and are a great example of 17th century French Huguenot housing.

The Huguenot's were Protesants who came to London to escape persecution, mainly settling in the East End of London and mainly working in the textile industry... somewhat ironic given that the following waves of immigrants (Jewish and Bangladeshi) would also work in this field..

This street view has hardly changed in 400 years... BTW these homes now cost millions!!!!!!!!! Wish I bought back in to 1990s when no one wanted to live here!!! Oh hindsight!!!

Went to a Turkish resturant in the evening... Yum... very nice :-)
