Yomp Yomp Commando by andycoleborn

Yomp Yomp Commando

My Dad was a Commando with the Royal Marines for 15 years, and despite leaving many years ago, he never truly left... The Marines are famed for having the toughest training programme in the world and for their love of yomping (half running for 20+ miles carrying 80kgs of equipment) then getting down to action.

This Commando guards the entrance to Eastney Barracks in Portsmouth where my Dad once served.

Talking of Portsmouth... after last weeks high, it was back to reality today, letting in a last minute goal to lose 2-1....

Visited parents and Mum still unwell, had a go at Dad & told him to take her to doctors next week... hopefully he can still follow orders!!
I noticed that you like to take photos from this angle, it really creates great effect, i might have to try it some time :)

I really like this photo. Especially how the yellow sky softens the harshness of the statue.

I hope your mum is well soon.

Hey thanks to everyone for kind comments...
Chimon - Funny, I go through phases of shooting pics at angles... clearly am going through one now... thanks for compliments :-)
Rich/Kathryn - looks much more yellow on this site than it in fact is, but agree, it seems to work ok... thanks

Yes, very nice shot! Really good job of catching the flag at just the right moment behind the statue.
