Sangeeta suddenly had a taste for some traditional home cooked Bengali food so we jumped in the car and drove into, funnily enough, the road where I work, and a Bengali fish shop... Selling all types of weird and wonderful beasties...
Most fish eaten by Bengali's (Both Indian and Bangladeshi) are fresh water fish, very boney and quite strong in flavour..
She originally wanted hilsa, but it was too expensive so we settled on rohi - twice the size and a third the price.. Once home, I cooked it in a mustard curry and served with aubergine curry and rice.. Very hot but a really, really simple curry to make...
Love the little boy leaning over the fish.
Love the hoodie taking a closer look! Attached this link, thought it might be your cup of tea....bbc in pictures.
