365 Journaling

Today I am a bit pushed for time, so I decided to focus on the journaling and recording aspect of 365 rather than the photographic aspect.

I write in a journal at some point every day and 365Project has become a great adjunct to that. My granddaughter has just received her pen licence because she can now write in 'running writing' or cursive script. That led me to reflect on my own writing experiences.

I went to a very small, single teacher, Australian country school. My first pen was a nib pen that you dipped in a china inkwell set in the back of the desk. I loved being the ink monitor and filling the ink wells each morning from a large bottle with a rubber nozzle.

I used a fountain pen for many years including a tortoise shell one given me by my great grandmother. It has her name engraved on it and the date 1939. I eventually 'graduated' to biros and ball point pens but hated the throwaway aspect of them. In the last few years I have gone back to fountain pens. I now favour Lamy fountain pens and love the many colours of ink that are now available. These are my favourite pens and inks at the moment.
I often wonder if my handwriting would be neater if I had started with a fountain pen.

What a good idea. Wish I had done that.

Writing with a fountain pen does change my handwriting. I'm not sure whether it's better. It's slower! @wakelys
