Adnate's (2014) mural of a young indigenous boy in Melbourne's Hosier Lane looks over Federation Square and the Yarra River, across to Birrarung Marr, a site significant to Aboriginal people. Not only is it a beautiful mural but it has significant sight/site lines.
The Birrarung Marr site is now incorporated in a park on the banks of the Yarra River. The name is lovely as is the translation from the Wurundjeri: 'birrarung' means 'river of mists' and 'marr' means 'side' so 'on the side of the river of mists'.
It is an amazing piece of street art. Adnate has a few of his paintings in Newcastle but sadly the linked one is no longer there because the building was demolished for the Wickham Interchange station a few years ago. http://365project.org/onewing/topics/2014-01-31
