Brown-headed Cowbird by annepann

Brown-headed Cowbird

This species is (in)famous for not raising its own young. Instead, the females (this is a male) lay their eggs in the nests of other birds and let other birds raise their young. The young of the host species often do not survive because the cowbird baby is bigger and demands all the food. A pretty bird, though.
Just like our Cuckoos, very nice bird captured the seen on the shoulder well.

@terryliv @esox interesting about the cuckoos. Glad in a way that the Cowbird is not the only bird who has this reproductive strategy.

Interesting to read that there is another bird that does this - had heard about the Cowbird - you learn so much here on 365! Your shot is beautiful - the lighting wonderful.

@annepann Since found out that @esox Martin is in the UK and I'm in Oz so "our cuckoos" are different cockoos

Tough to get a shot of this quality when you have a dark bird. Nice.
