Orange Bluets Laying Eggs

These two damselflies have just mated, and the female is now laying the eggs in the water on the lily pad. The male is keeping a hold on her so no other male mates with her, thus assuring his paternity. I sat on a dock on a small lake last evening watching dozens of these damselflies laying eggs.
What a super shot of this stage in the life cycle - have never knowingly seen this before. Will have to be more observant down at the creek (if it ever gets cool enough to stay put for a few minutes in the sun).
