Meadowbank Bridge ( John Whitton Bridge ) by annied

Meadowbank Bridge ( John Whitton Bridge )

I have a couple of weeks easier and then the rest of the month full on so I am going with the theme Things Aussie for this month - that way I can draw on images that I have when times get tough!
This week - Bridges

I love this bridge - the rusty lattice railing - the pylons - the views surrounding the bridge - the way the light hits it early morning and late afternoon.

The Parramatta River Railway Bridge at Meadowbank has been converted for pedestrian and cycle use. The case iron bridge was built in 1886 and today provides a link between the Ryde district and Homebush Bay. It was a lattice truss bridge designed by John Whitton.

@louannwarren aren't the shadows of the lattice soooo cool?

@annied Yes! I love when an architect is an artist too!

Such a unique bridge! The shadow play is wonderful here with just a hint of reflections. Must be absolutely stunning when the water is calm.

Wow, another fab bridge. Can't imagine today's rail bosses stumping up for the equivalent.

Great bridge, great rust. If you could get into the right positions there are a thousand photos in it.
