when I was a teenager all my parents asked was to let them know we were safe.....we didn't have mobile phones - we had to find a phone box and make sure we had change to make the call or find a phone in the establishment we were frequenting and hope they would let us use it. My sister and I always rang my parents to let them know what time we would be home and let them know we were safe.
why do people nowadays find it so hard to communicate - I am busy - I have issues - I need time - I have priorities....................
It takes less than 30 seconds to let someone know you are okay - that they matter - that you are thinking about them - that you are safe - that they are important - that you care.................
and yet we leave people hanging - worrying - wondering................
we are becoming a self involved society too wrapped up in our own petty concerns...........
take the time - say hi - say how are you? - think about how others are feeling.............
it doesn't take long................
I do agree but with mobile and FB, it is very easy to let someone know where you are or send a text. However young kids nowadays don't want to be controlled by their parents!
Great capture on communication theme, and nice post with it. I have a friend that has all her family members in a group on viber or so, and whenever they leave somewhere or get to their destination they have to sign in, all four of them, parents and kids. We tease her that she is overreacting, but at the end of the day they are constantly in touch, and nobody complains- I guess they got used to it... So no matter how technology develops, it is always up to us how much we communicate, everything else is just an excuse...
You brought up a really interesting topic here, Annie - I've enjoyed reading everyone's take on it. Kids - and adults, too, I guess - seem to have more trouble these days thinking beyond themselves. The idea of respect for others seems to be more lacking for whatever reason. I'd love to see that change.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to look read and add your thoughts - I am guilty too at times of not finding a few moments to tell someone I am thinking of them - how have we become so busy
