in the stocks

Stocks are devices used internationally, in medieval, Renaissance and colonial American times as a form of physical punishment involving public humiliation. The stocks partially immobilized its victims and they were often exposed in a public place such as the site of a market to the scorn of those who passed by.
Great B&W although I think the grin on the victims fasces may disappear when they realise that you have locked them in!!!!

We still have some stocks in our local town and a lot of folks wish that they could be re-introduced as punishment for some of the local youths who cause trouble of a Friday and Saturday night.
