Star Tortoise by annied

Star Tortoise

Star Tortoise
Scientific Name: Geochelone elegans

Aptly named for the star-like pattern on the shell this attractive land tortoise reaches a maximum length of around 35cm from a hatchling size of about 12cm. The upper shell or carapace is coloured in dark brown or black with light brown or yellow lines radiating out from the centre of each scale to provide the star pattern.
Stunning detail and capture.

Isn't he beautiful !! and well camouflaged with his surrounding -- love the conical shapes on his shell -- not like the "ordinary " tortoise I had for many years as a child Thanks Annie for the lovely image and the info -- nice to be educated ( even as we grow older !! )
