we were spoken to by the police!

Oh really?? What were you and your ratty friends up to?
March 30th, 2020
@beckyk365 we are on lockdown - shouldn't be out without a good reason
March 30th, 2020
Oh my! And were you out with good reason? We are on lockdown too and shouldn't be out - but I want to go out tomorrow! Hoping it all goes smoothly

@seacreature I'd gone to the post office - which is allowed - obviously I didn't need to drive on for a flask of tea and biscuits by the lake - but I did - now I just have to decide if I'm going to do the same when I legitimately go out again

Here they are going to start giving $1000 on the spot fines to people who aren’t social distancing in public! They’ve got police drones!!
March 31st, 2020
Surely if you stay in the car (apart from shopping) you aren't spreading a different Covid 19?
March 31st, 2020
@narayani whoa!
March 31st, 2020
@anniesue our county just got put on a “stay at home order”. But we’re still allowed to get outside for exercise, even on hiking trails. But I think now that it’s an official order, they’re allowed to stop you and ask where you’re going. I heard from a friend there was a large group of kids playing football on the high school field tonight, so clearly there are people who just don’t get it.

But going out to exercise (and photograph) is sooooo essential!!!! If you were in your car surely you were isolating??? I am a little afraid of the police state that is rushing in here!!

See your rats ducked down so as not to be seen!!
March 31st, 2020
@narayani @beckyk365 I've heard of a £600 fine - but it was for something a little different.
March 31st, 2020
@narayani we've done the drone thing - Derbyshire Police were shaming people who drove into the national park to walk - even though they were nowhere near anyone else - and you think "Hold on!" - but then I read in the paper just how many call outs to mountain rescue and ambulance and police - and probably fire brigade (yes, there were some people barbecueing and setting the moors on fire) and you realise they are emergencies which don't need to happen - even tho you can injure yourself and need attention within feet of your home. Phew!
March 31st, 2020
@tonyrogers I think there's a bit of overemphasis and that each case definitely needs to be looked at on its own merits - and mine - alone in my car - really ought to be considered a good case!
March 31st, 2020
@beckyk365 yes, break up a large group of people - or parties - and stop definitively unnecessary journeys, but use discretion. They've fined someone who was out of the house because they were bored. To that person I say "be bored with a bottle of milk and some fresh veg in your possession" and find a better excuse. ;-)

@30pics4jackiesdiamond perhaps they're trying to squash the problem before it really starts, but I do consider I wasn't doing any harm to individuals or emergency services.

In regard to a police state, one thing I'm interested in is shopkeepers being warned for selling unnecessary items. If you're out for something legitimate, surely you're helping the economy if you can afford to buy things (if you don't spend ages in the shop or pick up and handle lots of things. Minefield!)

We get Scottish public service announcements here in Cumbria and are hearing that you shouldn't go out except for food (and medicines, and to essential work, and something else) - when I actually think they mean groceries - to include washing up liquid and toothpaste, etc. So perhaps I could buy them online, but we're being told to leave online slots for people who really can't go out. Not that there are any slots til at least mid April, If then! Still too much ambiguity. [[just thinking things through!!]]

And the rats might have been crouching ready to leave a sinking car :-)

@anniesue I've just been sent a letter to amend showing I'm a key worker, to use when going into work to do essential building checks. What do council now know to be announced later today?? It's scary and a small minority are risking others and punishing majority.

Tske care of you and your little creatures xx
March 31st, 2020
@30pics4jackiesdiamond watch this space! My niece - a definite key worker - was afraid she'd be stopped driving back home after being in isolation with my sister and BiL - because she'd left her badge at home. It's the law-abiding who agonise!
