"i'm so glad you were born, you see,
'cause you were born, you see,
for His good pleasure.
a birthday wish came true
when He gave this world you,
and i'm so glad you came."
(dennis jernigan, 'i'm so glad you came')
these are the lyrics from the 'birthday song' that we sing at our house when one of our boys has a birthday, and today the oldest turned 15. a couple of years ago, i thought he was too old for the song, and he rolled his eyes when i mentioned it. but that night at bedtime, his daddy came running down the stairs to tell me 'sawyer really wants his birthday song!' so you better believe i ran up to his room, turned on the music, and we all snuggled up and sang. tears were running down my face, and the boy still didn't care--he just let me love on him. that was a moment i treasure. over the last fifteen years our boy has given us more treasured moments than i can count, and we are so thankful for him. he is such a fun, responsible, generous, wise, dedicated, sincere, hard-working, thoughtful, godly young man, and i am so blessed to be his mom.
Your words are so beautiful and your love shines right through for him. From what I know of him through your photos and captions, he certainly is a special person :) happy birthday to Sawyer!
just beautiful - the shot and the sentiments, brett... awfully sweet... hope he never outgrows it... lovely tradition..... one to remember for eternity....
