today was the 3rd and final race of the weekend, and it was a doozy. because it was the 15-18 age-based texas championships, as opposed to yesterday's skill-based race, racers of all skill levels could compete in their respective age groups. it was a large field (around 40ish), and there were some really impressive cyclists. it was big time. some of these kids race all over the country and world--and podium in those races! even though my boy was a little shell-shocked by the high-level riders and the fast pace, he rode a strong race and gained a lot of experience. he's got a ways to go, but i have no doubt he too will be 'big time' in no time at all!
