well, here it is. my 'emergency camel photo' (for clarissa/faeriemoon!) i took this shot this spring when we were in israel. we paid $5 each to have a camel ride around the parking lot of a gas station(!) he was a really filthy, smelly fellow--but he has lovely eyelashes, don't you think?!
*for those who are wondering, it's a dromedary camel (one hump). would you like to know how to remember which is which? i taught my animal-loving son this when he was little: a bactrian camel has two humps--when you turn a 'B' on its side it also has two humps. a dromedary camel has one hump--when you turn a 'D' on its side it also has one hump.
you're welcome.
(:
@jessa610 okay, i'm trying out this new notification thing--will you let me know if you see this response in your notifications? and thanks for the fave! how's your 'targus' (is that right?!) i had to google that!! (:
This is so adorable, Brett!! Camels are too cute!! And your kind explanations and lesson - loved it! ;-) Thank you for teaching me something new and making me laugh! ;-)))
nice close=up in case you don't go back to the--Matt Murata shot (flow) to get a shot like this you have to use a tripod and use slooow shutter speed, along with smaller aperture
Yay!! Love it!!! Your emergency camel trumps my emergency cow. Haha. Hey, maybe my cow can run off to join your camel and find some happy field somewhere.
We did a camel ride when we were holidaying in Saudi, and it was most scary when the camel suddenly lifted up off the ground - I nearly tipped off. Was a great experience even if they are a bit smelly (well, a lot smelly really) : ]
Camel faces are so awesome. I would have paid $5 just to photograph him. I've always wanted to ride and camel and I have heard they are quite smelly - apparently no one bathes camels!
