I spotted this big guy diving into the waterlily and having a great old time. Those little wings must move very fast because the shutter speed of 1/1250 sec couldn't freeze them.
I love the way the light is hitting the flower. Freezing the wings would have been nice but I think them being out of focus helps to show just how fast his little wings were going.
It's crazy how fast they fly - great catch! It's also interesting to see how your bees are different than the ones here. I love the eye on this guy - ours only seem to be pure black. We had one of our coldest nights on Sunday. -38C (with windchill). Combine that with last week's crazy 100 car crash on the highway (my husband thank goodness was not involved) and we're so finished with winter. A snow squall enveloped the highway and everybody just crashed everywhere. Think of a sandstorm, but it's with snow instead. You can check my FB for pics.
I love the colors in this shot with the lavender, greens, and - of course - the bee!
@kass I can so strongly identify with being "so finished with winter" after getting another 6" of snow this weekend and more predicted. I keep thinking it can't last much longer! It's March!
@kass This fellow is huge Kass, I don't see these very often.
Someone needs to turn the air-con off for you guys, honestly!! I don't know how you all survive those temps. I will try to send you some sunshine :)
