What a picture, Sheralee! Not only is the Kookaburra posing beautifully, but the background compliments the image perfectly. I'd fav this a dozen times if I could. Did you take this picture in your yard?
Oh, this is beautiful. I'd love to see a kookaburra. I heard a lot of their calls last year in Australia. Aren't their heads large in proportion to their bodies? Glorious blue feathers.
@nicolecampbell I didn't realise the blue-winged is only in northern Australia.
@amfrumbiddivurd Just the two Andy - The Laughing Kookaburra and the Blue Winged Kookaburra.
@lyndemc I have shot them in my backyard before Denise but this guy was in Darwin when we were there recently. Thanks for that fabulous comment :)
@julieco That's a shame that you didn't get to see one Julie. There's no mistaking that laugh is there, although this fellow doesn't have the same laugh as the Laughing Kookaburra.
@terryliv We get the Laughing Kookaburra here too Poppo, I love to hear them.
@elaine55 Thanks so much Elaine. I was using my 70-200mm f/2.8 lens but I was only at 75mm f/3.5 at 1/250 sec. I'm surprised I got a good shot at 1/250 with that heavy lens.
@elaine55 I have the Tamron 150-600mm ordered but it is taking forever to come. It has had fantastic reviews but it is quite heavy and doesn't have the wide aperture of this lens.
Beautiful image Sheralee, the bird is all over sharp. fav.
I have to mention your file sizes are much to high. Your not the only one, they are taking up space on your computer. look at your Exif file.
I get mine down to 100kb or less.
