Stan Pollards

This is the building where I shot the arcade windows. In years gone by it was a department store that reminded me a little of "Are You Being Served" but today it houses a Target Country store. I was tempted to take that ugly sign off.

For the next week I'm going to participate in Jerry's One Night Stand. If you are lacking inspiration or just want to have some fun head on over and check it out:

Cool shot

What beautiful architecture - and you are right that sign messes it up! On another note though, it's kind of cool - I've never heard of or seen a Target 'Country' store. I wonder how it is different than a regular Target store?

Wonderful old piece of architecture, I love the half circle of windows. The sign really detracts from it's bygone elegance :)

I have looked at that sign and wondered how much the council received to allow the eyesore to be erected.Nice shot any way Sheralee .Any other building in that area is heritage.

@tabarlett It's just a smaller version and you won't find everything that the city stores have. We're quite lucky to have it in such a small town (approx. 8,500 population).

It's a pity they have to spoil a building like this, I agree.

Fantastic shot of this old building with its newer style signage.

@nicolecampbell They copied the old signage for "boyswear" etc but had to spoil it with the "target country" sign.

Target in Australia!

Yeah for Target...my favorite store:). Where is your shot you were moved to post?

Such an interesting way to put windows in. A lovely old store, and I guess if Target wasn't in there, it might stand abandoned.
