@lesip Leslie, I think they possibly are gone. We were there just the week before they started removing them. They were removed a couple of years ago also but I believe this time they are putting something up that cannot have locks put on. I was lucky to get my photos when I did.
@dibzgreasley@onewing Babs is right, a part of this bridge collapsed under the weight last year, I think it was the handrailing as a part of it had boards in place. They were removed just the week after we were there so I was lucky to get these shots.
@chimfa I loved them when I first saw them a few years ago too Jane but some people go a bit overboard with where they will put them. I guess safety has to come first too. (read above comment)
You caught these just in time! I had read about the locks, but have not seen them before. Lovely POV and composition - I really enjoy how the lines of the bridge lead the viewer straight ahead.
Lovely shot - I'm amazed by the quantity of locks! Many councils have started removing them from bridges here, because in mass they pose integrity and structural issues for some structures. Awesome shot ;)
Is there a story behind the locks? Why people put them on the bridge? I have never heard of this, bu it's an interesting shot. ell spotted and captured.
Great shot.
And here is the recent removal: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-02/paris-removes-love-locks-from-pont-des-arts/6513494
