Another acrobatic Abyssinian

*Follow the collage beginning at the top left to right then down and to the left, ending at the bottom right.

It was only a matter of time before she made that fateful jump from the top of the cat tree to the half moon window sill. She made the leap yesterday afternoon and wasn't she just so pleased with herself. She managed the delicate maneuvers needed to reverse direction several times and for a while was happy enough to watch the birds and chipmunks carefully from the sill. Then came the heart pounding stretches until her eyes focused on the loft. Max and Raspberry (in their slimmer youthful years) made the scary transfer from loft floor to windowsill with Max only having two slipups. One was in the middle of a New Year's Eve party when he fell down on the table into a friend's dinner plate. No injuries from that one, but he did have a minor leg issue from another slip, but recovered quicker than my heart did. Anyway, Merry was satisfied to just explore the lofty window sill yesterday and come down via a jump to the top of the cat tree. The cat tree is fairly new, Max never saw it and Raspberry was never comfortable on the top. Merry loves the top and sleeps there often.

This morning she was back at it and very interested in hopping up into the loft. Be still my heart, I could barely look, I know she's a cat, but it's a very tricky transfer. I reluctantly left to take T to the train, walk in the cemetery and do some food shopping. When I drove home I hoped that she would greet me unscathed. I opened the door and looked up immediately to see her little face poking out from the loft railings. She had made the transfer safely, but must have been nervous to jump back down onto the window sill.

We have two carpenter made cat flaps cut into the old doors leading to the loft stairs and the loft itself. I don't think she is used to cat flaps, so I wired then up so they are always open to get her used to going through. They're the easy way to get to the stairs to the loft. It only took her a second to dart through each. She helped me cover the table in the loft that one of my painting friends rests her portable easel on(it's painting day tomorrow) and poked around checking everything. When I looked for her again, she was down on the window sill, so she has mastered that leap as well. Big shot, Day 16 at DogCorner. Right now she is out in the stairway area to the loft, it's beastly hot, there's no AC in that area between the connected barn and the house, so she is very happy. She's positioned at an open window, looking out the screen at the sparrows flying in and out of their nesting boxes hanging on the outside of the barn. My heart rate has returned to normal and I expect many more acrobatics, Abys love heights and challenges. They are a very intelligent breed.
She is such a little dear....love your pics and narrative......I have one very curious grey cat (spent almost a whole day searching through our loft....) and another very reclusive little calico....who likrs nothing better than to curl up in a box under the stairs cupboard !

OMG if she and Two got together it would be a three-ring circus. I don't have anything as neat as that half moon window. But I have an open shelve unit attached to the wall the top of which is less than a foot from the ceiling. The first time she climbed there I gasped but the worst is when she chases her tail up there. Your half moon windowsill would give me a heart attack. GO Merry.
