Nora and her daddy came over to help us with some house chores this morning. Auntie T took Nora under her wing, exploring our house. I assisted David while he put the piazza screens back up. He helped take them down before the painters freshened up the columns and railings that enclose the piazza. The screen installation went with only an unfortunate minor sting on David's hand. Surprisingly from a female bumble bee trying to escape the screened enclosure. We then went upstairs to successfully install a heavy window AC. We will actually be able to sleep tonight. Saturday night was beastly hot even with a fan.
Nora and T were joined by Hunter and his mum Sarah. Not wanting to be left out, they walked over through the woods. Nora loves our house, filled with things to look at and especially the treasures upstairs. She and T examined all of my jewelry boxes. When I came upstairs she was modeling a string of pearls which promptly became her own along with this faux emerald ring. Hunter was happy picking up all the small rocks around from our worldly travels. It was a lovely way to start a Sunday.
Yesterday we were with T's nephew's two precious children, virtually the same ages as Nora and Hunter. They live close by as well, in the town where I taught for 26 years. That was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Merry was much more herself today and thrilled that the piazza is back for birdwatching in the heat and sun she craves. She's eating well and more forgiving of us. Tomorrow she goes back on her two daily pills to help her liver, we'll see if I can catch her, or trick her into being caught. It's never easy and a source of much stress. She's a mind reader!
For the Record,
This day came in hot and was very, very hot for the beginning of June. We had the heat on last weekend in cold rain. Climate change is a frightening reality.
I retired from public school teaching after happily spending twenty eight years playing in Kindergarten. Now I fill my days watching cat antics, taking endless...
You know if that window ac becomes a problem I have a portable ac and it keeps me very cool. I could if I had to install it myself. I don't do the window ones because bats get in through those (and then Two chases them in the middle of the night) but the portable allows me to keep the screen closed. It is also more quiet. I hate giving medicine to a cat - good luck.
