We had a very full day outside in some lovely September weather. We began the day celebrating at Sylvester Field in Hanover. It's a beautiful field, enclosed by lovely stone walls in an area that was once farmland. It stretches from a tree lined street with lovely old colonial homes back to the woods and the Third Herring Brook as it meanders to the North River and Atlantic Ocean. A combined effort from the Wildlands Trust, donations from local citizens and an anonymous donor saved the field from being sold as house lots. There were a few speakers, sandwiches, time to chat with old friends who donated as well. We ended with a 30 minute walk along the field and to the brook.
We came home from the field, scrambled around a bit and loaded Merry Martini Kayak into the Forester and met a friend for a kayak paddle on Duxbury Bay. It was so beautiful and so peaceful. We spent an hour or so paddling in open water and in little channels lined with marsh grass. The tide was high and the water calm. We paddled to and under Duxbury Powder Point Bridge, then back to the sandy shore. Unfortunately, the heavens opened up with heavy rain just as we reached shore. We were soaked to the skin, but still smiling and laughing as we loaded our three sectioned craft into the car and helped K secure hers on her car roof. We were a little wet and chilly, but the heated seats in our car warmed us up. It was a great day.
It was also the first day with my new iPhone camera and it performed perfectly. Crisp photographs and some new improvements in the photo program.
