A Golden Eye on a Gray Day

“when tired at last, he sat on the bank, while the river still chattered on to him, a babbling procession of the best stories in the world, sent from the heart of the earth to be told at last to the insatiable sea.” “I'm such a clever Toad.”
-Kenneth Grahame Wind in the Willows

I love Wind in the Willows so very much, one of my childhood/lifelong favorite books. This little guy didn't quite have that attitude, but he looked quite important on the big seat rock on our patio. I was thrilled to spy him from the kitchen window.

For the Record,
This day came in rainy and gray, not Merry's favorite day, no sunshine.

A beautiful close-up. You just make me want to reread all my fave books with your quotes. I once led a Wind in the Willows walk around Cookham on the Thames, thought to be one of Grahame's inspirations for the book.
