I finished my painting of smooth stones and a ledge. I saw these this past summer as we walked along the beach at low tide. The smooth beach stones were tossed by the strong Bay of Fundy tides into a crevice in the craggy ledges along the shore below West Quoddy Light in South Lubec Maine. Two of my Maine ancestors were lighthouse keepers there in the 1800s. My maternal grandmother was born in a house on the road leading to the Light in South Lubec, Maine. Her grandfather was one of the keepers before she was born.
