Landlocked

Swimming to an Autumn Sea

siren of
the dying
garden,
your only sea
the birdbath
spray
drenching
the air
from
wings
not waves

earthbound,
staked
and fixed,
your mermaid
shape
weathered
wet
sees trees
not kelp

maiden of
the deep,
swimming through
leaf laden
autumn air, it's
chrysanthemums
not coral
that surround
your
upturned tail

For the Record,
This day came in cloudy and cool. It feels like the first day of autumn.

All hands wishing the weekend could be longer.
