My father was a fantastic crafts man and loved to work in wood. I have many small pieces of furniture he crafted small round table , drop leafed coffee table a small hand carved coffer --the carving in the style of William Morris He always worked in oak & often out of reclaimed wood . We had at home a Welsh dresser which he had made for my mother .In his latter years he would search coppices for straight woods to make sticks These are two examples of his work One depicts a small squirrel. acorns & a fir cone . The other one depicts a freshwater trout ( as would swim in the small river at the bottom of our garden !) Needs to be enlarged for best view
Beryl, these are wonderful pieces. I now have my Father's wood carving knives and supplies, so as soon as things calm down a bit I plan to give it a try
Such a legacy for your family Beryl & what a craftsman. Beautiful work & something to treasure...I am of the age when I am beginning to look with more interest at walking sticks...not yet mind!!

AND occasionally a few round holes onto the sides & wooden legs of Dad's work bench !! ---Happy days
