A beautiful day and while sitting in the conservatory ,sipping my coffee I just felt like Noah's wife as the animals( birds ) came into my garden in twos !!I was thrilled to see the goldfinch this year at last !! --they certainly found & enjoyed the Niger seeds !! The pair of pigeons are a daily visitors ,paddling their way through my borders under the feeder cleaning up after the messy little sparrows !!
Lovely collage Beryl! Can I send you 2 more pigeons? They were pecking at our young lettuce a few minutes after planting out before we'd had a chance to net it!
Our goldfinches enjoyed the Niger seeds but since we came back from NZ we haven't seen one. The feeders weren't filled up so they have deserted us...every other bird but them unfortunately!
@ch1ppy_m1nton Thanks Chippy - yes ,its lovely to see the sun --hope it will last !! @ivan I also love the goldfinch & encourage them to come with the Niger seeds No encouragement is needed with the 2 pigeons which I grudgingly tolerate -as long as they do not bring any more friends with them !!
@malc Thanks Malc --don't you dare send me any more pigeons I just tolerate these two but they can be such messy pests !! I can understand how quick they can be with their beady eyes to spot & devour new seedlings
@happypat - My goldfinch have only appeared back recently & only a few of them !! Perhaps yours will return when they spot the new seed !! @purplehaze12 Thanks HazelI must admit I am quite pleased with it also
The goldfinches have such bright colours - nice to see them actually still! Pigeons are slightly more easier responding to bits of bread thrown in front of them?
@maggiemae Thanks Maggiemae the Goldfinches are quite skittish !! never still for a moment ,but today they were so glad to see & feed off the Niger Seeds !!
