The legend goes as written on the memory stone of local slate --
In the 13 Century - Llywelyn, Prince of North Wales had a palace in Beddgelert . One day he went hunting without Gelert his faithful hound -who was unaccountably absent .On Llywelyn's return the truant stained and smeared with blood ,joyfully sprang to meet pis master. The Prince alarmed, hastened to find his son and saw the infant's cot empty , the bedclothes and floor covered in blood . The frantic father plunged his sword into the hound's side thinking he hd killed his son and heir. The dog's dying yell was answered by the child's cry. Llywelyn searched and discovered his boy unharmed ,but nearby lay the body of a mighty wolf, which Gilbert ,his faithfull hound had killed .The Prince full of remose is said to have never smiled again. He buried Gelert here -- the spot is called Beddgelert .
As a child the story always saddened me so much I would cry and to this day the Legend still makes me sad.
Oh, now I've heard this story somewhere before, can't think where.
Nice montage. I like how your photos show the overview of the site and then go to the specifics and details.
