I was thrilled to see at last a butterfly in my garden - I think it's a Painted Lady -- correct me if I am wrong ! My zoom lens came in very handy as my hobble gait with crutches would have certainly sent it a fluttering by !!

Lovely image, Beryl, I think the zoom has worked well, putting the background out of focus. I think it's a Small Tortoiseshell (blue edging at bottom - which Painted Lady doesn't have). fav. Take care.
@ivan Thanks Ivan , for correcting me on my identification -- I felt very unsure of the identity but now I have checked and yes you are quite right , it is a Small Tortoishell !
A beautiful capture and great timing. Fav. shot. This year I`m not lucky with butterflies. They never pose and our winds are to strong to get a clear shot.
You can see why it was attracted to that beautiful bright flower.
