A bitterly cold day - windy with the hint of rain in the wind ! I had to gently persuade Alfie to go out to attend to his toilet business this morning .
Time to attend to the Christmas cake this morning -I think !! I was flat icing it the other afternoon and I had a visitor -- not a good time to arrive !! I wish I had used fondant icing but had gone to the trouble of making royal icing which takes much more patient and skill to get it smooth on the cake ! Memo to self - use fondant icing next year much easier in case of unexpected visitors ! (argh ! Bless him !!)

Royal icing is the one that you whip a long time, isn’t it? It’s so good when I have it at fridnd’s Homes. I’m afraid to even try to make it, I’m sure your cake will be delicious! Selfie is a sweet boy!
Great photo and processing of Selfie. Is Total icing a cooked, whipped icing? My mother used to make a whipped icing she called 7 minute icing. I wonder if it is similar.
A cute capture of Alfie. I always preferred to use royal icing, as I find fondant icing rather sickly. I don't make Xmas cakes now, as I find standing very painful after about ten minutes.
