Halloween. by beryl

Halloween.

Not a fan of Halloween, and never have celebrated it! - but I always have a few treats in the house in case we have a few young witches on the doorstep! Although in the last few years no one has been knocking on the door. Guess who has been enjoying the treats (or naughties)!!!!! So here is my feeble attempt to illustrate the mood of the night!
ha ha, very good., took me a minute to work it out. Well done & enjoy your treats!

Nice job, Beryl. I like Hazel's comment, "a purple world is good for me"!

oh I love the image! it's not really a thing in Oz, so I find it a little bemusing as we've never had context for it here

A nice interpretation of Halloween

I feel exactly the same Beryl. A custom from across the pond I think but give me good old Guy Fawkes night anytime but that seems to not be as important these days. We never have ant trick or treaters either p, it doesn’t seem to be popular here thank goodness!
I sound a right misery!! Not so keen on the fireworks perhaps & it’s like burning money but a tradition that’s loosing its history. I love your witches flying around!!

@happypat So good to have someone of the same mind as me ! I had never heard of Halloween until the early 70s ! but Guy Foulks night was always a treat As a child we had a gathering in the village with a proper bonfire, fireworks, jacket potatoes, hot dogs ( or something similar)! lots of fun with every household contributing towards the night - A proper village do!!!!!!!

Nicely done...Great Halloween image

@beryl Exactly Beryl, I can still remember the excitement of getting wrapped up & going out in the dark to the village bonfire. The smell & treacle toffee etc. when we got older if there was a certain boy we might have our eye on…..would he be there or not? All very innocent but exciting stuff! Have a look at messenger, I sent you a message a bit back!! A bit out of date now!

I am not into Halloween either, but I love your artwork,

However did you do that? It's terrific. Much better than my Halloween effort

I agree with you and Pat about bonfire night, and I remember the burnt black potatoes cooked on the open fire

Well done Beryl!

@happypat Looked in messenger but found no message!!!!!!!!

It’s not big in this country, but continues to grow. Bonfire night used to have the edge over Halloween, but even that’s not what it was!

nice edit beryl

@beryl oh that’s strange…I can read all the previous messages we wrote so I don’t think it’s the wrong one! Not sure what to do next! It’s the one where you sent me your address! It wasn’t important! It might turn up! 🤣🤣 xxxx

celebrating Halloween use to be only done in the USA. In the last few years it has spread to our country at the bottom of Africa

Spooky! My husband insists on me getting Halloween candy, but we live in the woods, and never get one trick or treater lol.

@pamalama -- Clever thinking on your hubby's part- no trickster - so all the candy for you to share! ha !
