Two examples of the use of the local slate carved and polished . Upstairs there is in what is known as the Queen Victoria Bedroom , Where a specially made bed of slate was created for Queen Victoria's visit . But the Queen refused to sleep in the Slate bed saying it was too much like a coffin !!!!! So a second room was prepared for her .
Unfortunately I didn't make to the upstairs on this visit -- my legs refused to do the stairs !!
