The current Metro system was first built for the World's Fair in 1900.

Shortened to just "the Metro", which continues to be its name to this day. There are 16 lines altogether,

There are over 300 stations, and most of them have multiple entrances, meaning there are hundreds of Metro signs all over the City.

In the 1930s, an Art Deco version was born:

Called the ‘Val d'Osne’.a style that frames the word - "METRO"
Wrapped in an elaborate cast-iron frieze topped with an orb-like lamp. It’s called ‘ Dervaux ‘
I love the charm of Paris!

Whizz bang…early morning start for me
now back to work…

Beautiful capture and such an interesting narrative.

Very interesting. Signage was much more ornate back then. I’m glad we’ve all held on to a lot of it.
