This is my first attempt at creating a shot with water droplets :(
I'm using Olympus E-PM1 with lens M.ZUIKO Digital 40 - 150mm 1:4 - 5.6
any suggestions on settings or information would be much appreciated as I'm not at all happy with the shot but I did try several attempts but all seemed to fail. But posted the shot as this is the shot I planned for the day, not realizing how difficult / complicated it would be, but trying to progress with camera hence why I tried.
This is a great attempt. I think that if you are able to focus on the water drops it will be a fantastic shot, especially if you can get some of the M's to be magnified through the droplet. I love the idea you had here.
To focus on the water drops you may need to use manual focus, or use auto focus (AF) and be very still and put your focus spot right on the droplet. The macro you mentioned in your discussion may help too. I do not own a macro lens myself, can't wait until I can afford one.
These can be very frustrating, and there is an element of luck with the timing as well. That being said though, you need to pretty much have the opposite settings to what you had in this shot. Firstly put the camera in manual, and then change to manual focus as well. Use a tripod, place an object roughly where the drops will be so you can set the focus to that, you want the lens wide open (lowest f/ value), turn the flash onto max, and up the shutter speed, if the E-PM1 is like my E-PL1 then with flash on that will be prob be limited to 1/160, and get that ISO down as well, gonna be a lot of noise at 1000.

Nice first attempt :)
