Tailor's Thimble - or contraption! by bizziebeeme

Tailor's Thimble - or contraption!

That is what this was when I was 16. I just got the tailoring apprenticeship at Saville Row tailors, they took me out to get a thimble and was sent home with fabrics and thread to practice sewing with a thimble.

Oh How I hated the thing, the times it was thrown across the room!! Pleased to say time and patience got used to it before starting the apprenticeship ....And now I can NOT sew without one!!!

This is still the original thimble I was sent home with :-) And you can not buy them like this anymore :-( So I treasure this one!
Nice image. I like the lighting and coloured strings.

I love the story behind your image, and the image does your story justice. Impressive talent to have, I think!

A lovely detailed close-up shot, and I like the use of thread as a background.

Wow - a Savile Row apprenticeship - you must have such talent! I can't sew without a thimble either - and better eyes wouldn't go amiss...

What a lovely story and a lovely thimble... I remember when we were kids we used to get plastic thimbles in Christmas crackers - something you don't see anymore!
