The last day of our Staycation we choose to go visit Fort Edmonton Park. This is North America's largest interactive historic park. Here visitors can go back in time and see what life was like when Edmonton was a fur trading post in 1846. Then you can see what our main street in Edmotnon has looked like over the years 1885, 1905 and 1920
This shot was taken on 1885 street. The park has a variety of differnt modes of transportation to get people around the park.
The building directly behind the wagon is a replica of James Lauders Bakery and residence
You have proven that Staycation's might be the way to vacation in a tough economy. You stayed in a great hotel, ate at nice restaurants and visited interesting places. What better vacation than that???! This place sounds so interesting. I used to work in a little historic village outside of Pittsbugh Pa. in college- just loved it! Nice shot- great in b&w. If you have the processing ability you should see what it looks like in sepia tone too- I think that might really give it the 1800's look.
@karenann That is one of the reasons why I love going here. They have people who dress up in costume and role play the different characters and people who would have lived there
this is probably how a time traveller would see the place back in 1885 too much bright sunshine and everything seems like a haze before he realizes he's back in time. this is nice!
@olivetreeann Thank you for the comment. I was thinking about the sepia setting on the camera but I could not seem to get it to work. May be another time
@laurentye Lauren I highly recomend going here. It is a wonderful place to visit. Just give your self a whole day as there is so much to see specially if it is yoiur first time
