Talk About Air Conditioning

This is the old Bank of Montreal building on Jasper Avenue and 101 Street. It was built in 1963 and is now being slowly demolished. As you can see here the windows are slowly being removed. There is an old theatre next door to it that has almost been completely torn down. On the bottom of the building you can see a sign that shows the new buildings that will be built on this spot.
A group tried to convince City Council to save the building but to no avail. I have been watching the process and even though it is slow it is interesting to watch and take pictures as it happens.
It is really nice here and the sun is shinig which should make for a great weekend. Have a good one everyone
Great capture

Beautiful capture with this great lighting! Taking all of that glass down is alot of work and takes time. The new building looks pretty nice!

It doesn't look like it is in despeate need to be removed. what a waste of money spending..but then maybe there're no lots avilable anymore.. it's all about revenue. leaving on a cruise tomorrow. will be back in 2 weeks time.

Very nice catch. Love the sun on just selected parts due to the proximity of the other buildings.
February 4th, 2012
it's quite sad to see buildings demolished and this one looks like it's not in a bad condition, it was a good idea to take a pic of it
February 4th, 2012
Nice shot. Happy to see the sites of your city.
February 4th, 2012
Why is it necessary to take one building down to put another one up I wonder, unless it is unsafe or more likely too expensive to renovate, that happens a lot here with houses. Great light and shade, it actually gives it an finality
February 4th, 2012
it is great how you take the buildings bkb
February 4th, 2012
Neat shot and it is so sad to see good buildings torn down for new.

@zonnestraaltje Thanks Agnes. I figured I wanted to get some shots to documnent the loss of this building
February 5th, 2012
@claireuk Sometimes I think that developers just want to say they built the building rather than just renovated it
