Yesterday I posted a photo of a mural depicting the Famous Five. A group of Women who were instrumental in the womens rights movement in Canada.
Today I am highlighting Henrietta Muir Edwards. She was born in 1849 in Montreal, Quebec and passed away in 1931 in Fort McLeod Alberta.
Some of her accomplishments include opening the Working Girls Association, the forerunner to the YWCA. She helped found the National Council of Women of Canada and the Victorian Order of Nurses.
This park on the southside of the river is named in her honour. It is connected by a footbridge to Louise McKinney Riverfront Park.
Tomorrow we will cross the river and take a stroll through the second park of the five named in honour of these incredible women
Lovely looking park. So glad there are places like this to pass on the history to our future generations. They should know that that sort of thing was not always taken for granted!
I've heard of Henrietta Muir Edwards she has also acoomplished a lot for the Canadian women..I didn't know that these lovely parks interconnect to each other.. I guess there're a few more for me to see.
