Well since I have been feeling a little uninspired lately I thought that doing the word challenge for November might be a good idea. Today's word was Patriotism and so I thought of this store downtown Edmonton.
It is a nice little gift shop and since it is hard to find something that is actually made in Canada these days I figured that I would be a little patriotic today and give them a small boost by featuring them on 365
I think stores like this are much needed, especially in recession times. I remember our BHS stores once only sold British goods; BHS being British Home Stores. Good shot Brian.
looks like a fun shop, and I really like the shot! By my parents house there used to be a shop dedicated to things made in ohio it is always so neat to find out what sorts of items are made near where you live.
Great idea! I had my students check the labels on their shirts and sweaters the other day, and we couldn't find one that was made in the USA! China, The Philippines, and Mexico were all high on the list.
How excellent! And I thought the "it's hard to find anything made on home soil" problem only occurred in the US. That was both good and bad to find out! Nice shot.
What a great photo for the challenge, Brian and for the economy of Canada. It is hard to find things made in America and the stores that sell products made in America do not usually say so or name the store as this one.
nice way to get inspired, brian. the word list does make you think out of the box sometimes. i've seen a few stores like this in toronto and niagara falls but imagine my dismay sometimes to find an item i wanted to buy only to see in the bottom that it is made in china or india.
Cool little store.
I never occurred to me that "Made in (fill in the blank)" was a problem for other countries too, but of course that makes perfect sense. It's nearly impossible for us to find products made in the USA.
I suppose one thing Canada will always have is maple syrup. Mmmmm.
