So this is the last photo in my little series. Today I am posting a photo from 2002. This was taken in Antigua, Guatemala. Melody and I were part of a group of people who went on a missions trip to Guatemala during the last two weeks in December. We took clothing, medical supplies and toys for children at Christmas.
It was an experience we will never forget. We had a couple of days to take in some of the sights. The hat I am wearing I had just purchased at a shop near by and Melody took the picture.
this is a great series you thought of, brian. in the old country we have a saying: you have to look back to get to where you are going. (then i always asked my mother, what if you trip from looking back? and she would pinch my ear!) great photographs and thank you for taking us on the journey.
Good for you. I went to Paraguay and support a group of chldren in Costa Rica. They are refugees from Nicoragua, living in squallar. Bless you and Melody, God loves a giver, especially of their time
I loved Antigua! My husband sent me there for 6 weeks for my 50th birthday to avoid any kind of big hoopla and party here. I stayed with a host family that my daughter had lived with when she studied there for 6 months. I took Spanish in the morning and then volunteered at the Children's Hospital in the afternoons. It was an growing experience in so many ways. I know you understand from your experience there. I believe that mission trips grow the person going even more than the ones they are going to serve.
What a great shot and a memorable experience!! I love the hat by the way and I have really enjoyed this series!! :) So great to take a stroll down memory lane :)
Very nice portrait shot of you. That must have been an awesome experience. I've enjoyed your series of pictures back in time. Thank you for sharing them.
Fun shot- you are really soaking in the local flavor here! The Spanish teacher of the school I used to teach in takes groups to Guatemala every year. They work with a school there and do something very similar to what you did. Great shot!
What an experience - cutting out the "middle men" in this way is some guarantee that the deserving will actually get the aid. Congratulations.(And I am sorry the series has come to an end).
@summerfield Glad to have you along. Love that saying by the way and I just find it so hard to believe that you of all people would sass your Mother like that hehe
