Today we met a group of people from Singapore. They arrived this afternoon at the Greyhound Depot via Vancouver. The gentleman in the white shirt is our friend Pastor Bob, he is the chaplain at the Chapel at West Edmonton Mall.
These folks are friends of Melody's brother and sister-in-law who lived in Singapore for two years.
They have been sent over here from their church there to start a new church here in Edmonton.
This was taken after we loaded the luggage in the trailer and then we were off to have lunch after the long bus ride from Vancouver.
They are wonderful people and we are looking forward to developing a friendship with all of the them and of course waiting to see how they will respond to a Canadian winter as one of their questions was, how cold does it get here.
How exciting for them to come to a wonderful country like Canada and to be welcomed by people like yourself. They have no idea how cold the winters are but don't tell them until they have the church finished. Enjoy your new friends - they look wonderful
A massive difference in temperature ...good job they have summer to acclimatise!! Do hope all turns out well for them & they are all happy in Canada...brave thing to do!!
@bkbinthecity Make sure they are aware of wind chill factor when riding a skidoo!! Ho Ho! (We learned the hard way wth our first experience decades ago.)
That first snowfall is going to be a bit of a culture shock, isn't it?! I have a feeling the kids will love it. The parents will need so getting used to it- but I know they'll get plenty of moral support from you and Pastor Bob. God bless them!
It's summer, but I already feel for them concerning winter!
