The bridge in this collage is an old Canadian National Railroad Bridge that crosses over 97 Street which is the main road leading in and out of downtown running north and south. CN shut down the downtown rail yards more than 20 years ago. The bridge eventually became a pedestrian crossing and this past weekend a group of people decided that it would be nice to plant some flowers to add too what otherwise was a pretty dismal looking bridge.
So on the way to work this morning I thought I would stop and check it out. As you can see it is in the early stages and I am sure as the days go by it will turn into a rather lovely spot
What a great idea! I think the High Line (or some such name like that) in NYC is based on the same idea. It's a garden and walkway made in one of the old elevated train lines. Nice collage!
