I am not sure if I have mentioned this or not. Melody and I were officially installed as Chaplains at the Market Place Chapel at West Edmonton Mall. It is a volunteer position but it certainly keeps us busy. We are there for a service every Sunday and Melody covers the Monday morning shift at the reception desk each week. There are 43,000 people employed at the mall and the chapel has been here since 1986. You really have no idea who may stop by on any given day. So far this year there have been visitors from over 30 different countries to the chapel. This shot was taken when we were covering a Friday evening shift for one of the other volunteers
Such a lovely capture of Melody...you guys are so active! Nice that you time to give of yourselve to help others. And it is nice to have a chapel in a mall!
That is a great volunteering endeavor. Awesome. And I can't believe there are 43,000 employees at West Ed. Mall..... Guess I should believe it. Been there, done that several times..... OK, sounds about right. Nice picture of Melody!!! (We are still thinking of getting up that way again next summer!!)
I admire you for volunteering your time and sharing your faith. I have never heard of a chapel in a mall. My son and wife are studying theology at university. This could give them ideas...bless
Congratulations! How fun to visit with people from everywhere! You couldn't find a more welcomeing face to place behind the desk and I'm sure the Sunday service is inspiring. The desk looks so tidy.
I seem to recall a mention, as Shirley says, but congratulations nevertheless. A former Prime Minister here in the UK once famously pronounced that there is no such thing as "society". I am so pleased you and many others are disproving this nonsense. You have been called to serve and i am sure you will both make a tremendous job of it.
A chapel in a mall sounds perfect- you are right in the middle of everyday life- exactly where the Gospel should be. And the joy on Melody's face is wonderful.
I remember you mentioning this. How wonderful for the two of you to do this and in addition that Melody volunteers to help out. Nice photo of her, Brian. She is beautiful and the love between the two of you shows in photos like this and in how you speak of her.
