I remember during my first six years in school starting each day with the Principal coming on the intercom and greeting the students and then we would all stand as the music for our national anthem was played. We would all stand at attention and sing O Canada and then when it was over we would take our seats and listen to any special announcements that would be made for that day. All of this was done over the schools intercom system.
I am not sure what year this particular system is from but I have a feeling it may have been very similar to the one used in the schools I attended over the years
What great memories! I love that you sang the National Anthem.
I also notice the film strip projector next to the intercom. Wow. Love the memories that brings back!
We didn't/don't have to do that, even in primary school not (primary is grade 1-4, after that you already go to kind of high school, grade 5-12, I'm in 8). But we never had to sing the national anthem or something.
Great capture anyways!
You certainly brought back memories. For me it was 'My Country 'tis of thee (America) to the tune of God Save the Queen :-) Back in my day I don't think the system was this fancy. It was a lot like from the movie Grease.
Sounds as if your memories of the beginning of the school day are similar to mine, but either we didn't sing the national anthem, or I've blocked that part out. I do remember announcements made by a nervous and tongue-tied vice principal which, I'm afraid, sometimes had us in stitches--poor man (I can say that now).
