Changing Times

So I decided to do one of my then and now shots. The building on the left was the old Bank of Montreal building that was built in the 1950's. A couple of years ago the decision was made to tear it down and to build a completely new building.
The shot of the old building was taken as they had just started demolition. It was a very long process as they literally tore it down floor by floor.
The picture of the new building was taken earlier this week.
This weekend is the Victoria Day Long Weekend here with Monday being the holiday. I have taken the Friday and Tuesday off as well to give us a bit of holiday. No plans to actually go away but it will be nice having some time off work
The original was so much better!

I do feel it is such a waste pulling a building down unless it is rotting at the seams! The building looked quite modern for the 50s!

Fun to see the artist's conception of what the future building would be and how it actually turned out.

Great shots

I'm surprised at the short life-span for the original building. The need for efficiency in heating and communications could be one reason. Nice pair of captures.

Nice the see the difference in styles here. Enjoy your extra-long weekend, and don't do anything Queen Victoria wouldn't have done! :)

So nice that you were able to capture both buildings. Wonder what was wrong with the old building as it looks great though so does the new one. Enjoy your time off. It is so nice to add a couple of days in to make a long holiday weekend.

A collage is a great way to compare two images. I wonder if there are certain circumstances in which certain collages are considered more appropriate or acceptable? It seems as if some of them have special names, etc....Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend!
