This weekend the Royal Alberta Museum is closing its doors. It opened on December 6, 1967.
Not to worry though as a new facility is being built which will open in 2017.
So in light of this the museum was running a special event. It opened its doors this weekend to the public for 48 consecutive hours at free admission
Melody and I went early this morning so the crowds were not to bad yet. This allowed us to enjoy the exhibits and get some great pictures
So I have decided to take everyone who is interested on a tour with me of this wonderful museum. I trust you will enjoy yourselves
@novab Nova they building a brand new facility in the downtown arts district. They said part of the reason for a long delay is the process of packing up old artifacts takes time and that there will be so many new exhibits that they will take their time in creating a world class museum
Too bad they have to close this one up before they build the other- but I guess it takes time to move all that stuff! I think that was really great they went out in style by offering free admission to everyone. Nice shot.
@olivetreeann They have already started building the new one. They said it will take quite a while to pack up all of the artifacts that they have in display here and to create so many new exhibits
