In 1891

That was the year the first Ukrainian settlers arrived in Canada. This is a memorial honoring those brave pioneers. Alberta has a very large Ukrainian population many of who live in Edmonton
This picture was taken as the sun was starting to go down creating a glow on the one side
Wonderful information and shot.

A wonderful memorial. I had a ton of friends with Ukrainian heritage when I lived in Bonnyville. They are great people - so hard-working and friendly. And - their food is fabulous!

Really like how the light splits the memorial into two parts - almost like a symbol on past/future for the settlers.

A lovely shot of this attractive memorial. Katharine found it particularly interesting since her dad is Ukrainian. He came to England soon after the Second World War. Fav!
