I have interrupted my England photos to remember New York City today on this the 21st anniversary of 9-11.
These photos were taken on the same trip in 1990. We spent a week in New York before going to England.
I will continue with my tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll tomorrow
Great tribute. I remember how my grandmother irritated me when she started saying "and before the war was is ...". We now also have oues before and after.
Good not to let such a terrible thing like this go forgotten. That would be giving others a chance to repeat what happened with an even more disastrous result.
What a lovely collection of shots. Good that you are commemorating 9/11, a very sad event with many consequences for the world since then, but an event which shouldn't be forgotten.
What memories- it was my first week of seminary, and the dean of students walked into our class to announce the tragedy of the first plane. I thought it was a test to see how "spiritual" we'd be and who'd be the first to say, "Let's go to the Chapel and pray." When we walked into the lobby before heading to the chapel, a tv had been hooked up and the second plane had just flown into the second tower. We were in utter shock and could hardly comprehend what was happening. Then the news of the Pentagon and Pittsburgh came in...
I brought 85 high school students into assembly and let them watch the second tower go down; they needed to see what evil existed in the world and that we would never surrender to it and what the strength and resolve of free and united people can accomplish.
@365projectorgheatherb Thanks Heather for the comment and the fav. We visited the World Trade Center and l had the opportunity to go up to the indoor observation deck. Something l will never forget
