Just after midnight last night, my other half and I made a last moment decision to drive to Sandal castle in Wakefield (originally build out of timber around 1107). We wanted to see if we could spot the northern lights. Sadly there was just too much cloud cover, so we have no idea if it happened or not, but we did have fun in the cold and wind!!
Got this on a tripod borrowed from a friend, though it wasn't really sturdy enough, and it was really windy last night too. It was fun holding down the shutter and trying so hard to keep everything still during the 5 second exposure! It was pitch black up there, no streetlights or anything. Fun fun fun!
Lots to say here.......fancy turning out at midnight........zzzzzzzz.....rewarded by a great photo but if it was so black where has this light come from? Was it spooky there? :-) Loved your idea for the courgettes! They ended up lightly fried in butter with tomatoes and shallots and garlic accompanied by some yummy sausages!! mmmm
Ah, interesting what you say, that there is always light in the sky.......here in the sticks it is possible to escape light pollution and no matter how hard you stare, you cannot see a blimmin thing!! Sorry mention sausages!! lol
Very brave & very nice picture ... I knew there was something i should have looked for last night!! forgot all about the lights dohh!
p.s.
You know what they say in those Yorkshire outposts... "don't wander of the track after nightfall !!"..." have you never seen American Werewolf in New york" ...lol...
Hard to believe this was taken at midnight... wow! What a great photograph! And I love photos of ruins as they have such character and history about them.
